
In some ways, Movable Type is the granddaddy of blogging platforms. It began as a collaboration between Ben and Mena Trott, and became the cornerstone product of Six Apart. The current incarnation, MT4, is available in both open-source and enterprise editions.

I joined Six Apart in late summer 2004, when it was a shade over 20 people including the offices in Tokyo and Paris. I was originally hired as a Perl monkey on TypePad. I transitioned not long after into the lead frontend role, where I coded the first iteration of the core Six Apart JavaScript library.
